The designer ‘IT’ bag is always at the very top of the must-have list each season. It’s not just a convenient place to stash all the essential’s you must take with you (wallet, mobile, keys, makeup etc). It also acts as a beacon transmitting your taste, style and sense of fashion.

Stick a big-buckled Fendi B bag or a Mulberry Bayswater on your arm and you don’t have to worry (too much) about what else you are wearing the bag will do the work for you.

So what makes a good designer bag.?

Well obviously is quality, style and brand. But increasingly it’s media hype. We are constantly exposed to images in magazines on the internet and on the TV of celebs sporting their favorite bag on one arm. The ‘bag’ has become the fashion focus and everyone has to know what the latest ‘IT’ bag is.

The good thing about all this is that we get to see what is on offer as the celebs go about their business (albeit promoting themselves) and we can choose what we think we like rather than have that imposed on us by marketing.

But just remember the following simple tips to help you choose.

Go for a larger style of bag you will find that it’s far more practical and you will get better use from it.

Go for the established makes/styles like the Chanel Classic that will always be beyond fashion.

Go for a neutral colour as this will go with everything and will never look dated.
