The Fendi Handbag - A Jewel in the Crown of Fashion Design?

The Fendi Handbag is renowned for it’s hand craftsmanship and attention to detail. Fendi manage to combine innovative design with classic workmanship which is why they are one of the most sought after designer brands.
Fendi’s track record is good with some of the most famous celebs out there with their latest or favorite Fendi bag on display. Obviously this media exposure has driven the demand for Fendi bags. But, and because celebs tend to choose on quality and looks but not primarily on price the Fendi brand is obviously a good choice.
The house of Fendi was established in 1925 (although its origins date back to 1918) and credits its success to three main factors; creativity, technology, and craftsmanship. There is no disputing that all three factors have been in prominence over the years. Fendi is considered to be one of the most luxurious designer labels in the fashion industry. Much of their success must be down to the design influence of Karl Largerfeld, possibly one of the most respected fashion designers in the industry. Karl Lagerfeld has contributed as creative director to the Fendi label since 1966, designing some of the most exciting and unique pieces in the Fendi collection.
Fendi have produced some iconic bag designs that have been worn by some of the world’s most famous faces.
The Fendi Baguette was probably the original ‘IT’ bag.
The Baguette derives its name from the French baguette bread and is one of the most sought after vintage Fendi handbag designs with simple lines and a short shoulder strap and like it’s name sake was made to be carried under the arm.
The Fendi Spy bag has been spotted on everyone from Madonna to Keira Knightley.
The Spy bag became a hit about 14 months ago and since then Fendi have released a number of different designs. Some (like the one in the picture) have been a great success, others have been less fortunate. The lambskin version is an absolute joy with its soft lambskin and intricately detailed design.
The Fendi ‘B’ bag is topping the recent wishlists.
The Fendi ‘B’ with its characteristic large buckles. There have been many variants produced by Fendi during the past months. Some are beautiful pieces of design and craftsmanship. Others are just a bit too loud for my taste.
This tends to summarise Fendi in my eyes. They design and produce some real quality products which are far far far better than anything else when you consider all the features. However, they also design some absolute duds which are well made quality handbags but look like a nightmare from a fashion perspective.
Obviously my opinion - but that’s what this is about.
